Terms of Service

1. The service

Story Builder is a story-structuring tool for writers, operated by Zealous Creative. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Story Builder. Keep your password secure — you are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Use a real email address you control; it is how we contact you and how you request account changes.

3. Your content

Everything you write in Story Builder is yours. We claim no ownership of your stories, beats, outlines, or any other content you create.

So that the service can function, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit your content — for example, saving it to our database, syncing it to your devices, and, when a beat summary is generated (after you edit a beat or request summaries), sending the relevant beat text to our AI provider (Google) to generate that summary. This license exists only to operate the service for you, and it ends for any content you delete.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use Story Builder to store or distribute content that is unlawful. Do not attempt to access other users' data, probe or overload the service, circumvent rate limits, or use automated scripts against the service's infrastructure. This is a small tool run in good faith; please use it the same way.

5. AI features

Beat summaries are machine-generated from your text and may be inaccurate or incomplete — always treat them as a convenience, not a source of truth. AI features are rate-limited per account and may be changed, suspended, or removed at any time.

6. Availability and changes

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Story Builder is maintained by a small team, and features may change, break, or be discontinued. We work hard to keep your data safe, but you should keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zealous Creative's total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Termination

You may stop using Story Builder at any time and request deletion of your account and data by emailing chris@zealouscreative.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and will make reasonable efforts to let you retrieve your content unless legally prevented.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Zealous Creative operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will update this page and the effective date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
