Privacy Policy

Who we are

Story Builder is a story-structuring tool made by Zealous Creative, a small single-founder studio. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app handles and why. It is deliberately short because we collect very little.

What we collect

Your account. When you sign up we collect your email address and a password. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service); your password is managed by Google and is never visible to us.

Your writing. The story content you create — projects, sections, beats, categories, and generated summaries — is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (part of Google Firebase) so it can sync to your account. Access rules restrict your content to your own account.

Usage counters. We keep a simple per-account counter of AI summary requests to enforce a daily rate limit. That is the extent of our usage tracking — there are no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app.

AI summaries and your text

Story Builder has one AI feature: generating a one-line summary of a beat. Summaries are created when you finish editing a beat, or when you use the "generate summaries" action. Each time, the text of that beat — and only that beat — is sent through our server to Google's Gemini model, and the summary comes back. That is the only way your writing ever leaves our database.

Your text is processed by Google under the terms of their API services. We do not use your writing for anything other than producing the summary you requested.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share your writing with anyone except the service providers named above (Google Firebase for storage and authentication, Google Gemini for summaries you request).

Cookies

The app uses only the storage needed by Firebase Authentication to keep you signed in. There are no marketing or tracking cookies.

Deleting your data

To delete your account and everything you have written, email chris@zealouscreative.com from your account's email address. We will remove your account and stored content.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Meaningful changes to how your writing is handled will be called out clearly, not buried.
